our story

Founded in 2017 by Hannah Lee, The Sill and Soil began as a small plant-loving venture in her basement. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a beloved local presence, with Hannah attending markets and sharing her passion for plants with the community. When the pandemic hit in 2020, the shop took a bold step forward, opening its first brick-and-mortar location.

Throughout this journey, Phil, Hannah’s corgi, was always by her side, charming customers with his playful nature and love for people. His adorable presence made The Sill and Soil a truly welcoming place for all.

In 2024, Hannah passed the torch to Michelle Robertson, who now leads the shop alongside her corgi-border collie mix, Mini. The Sill and Soil legacy continues under Michelle’s care, with a focus on building strong relationships and creating a space that celebrates growth, plants, and community.

With the motto “Let’s Grow Together,” The Sill and Soil remains dedicated to fostering a sense of connection, whether through providing beautiful plants, hosting workshops, or engaging in local initiatives. It’s not just about plants—it’s about growing together as a community.
