light:

- the brighter the better, though too close to a window may cause sunburn or frost bite

- this plant’s large leaves have joints that allow them to move to face the light

- will quickly become stretched out, or “leggy,” if not getting enough light

water:

- water approximately every 2 weeks (more frequently in a brighter spot)

- tolerant of drying out, better to keep too-dry than too-wet

soil:

- the more aeration your soil has the better, consider some orchid bark, perlite, or LECA in your mix

- these plants seem to prefer being a bit root bound

- may be kept in the same pot for a few years, especially when fertilized regularly

- monsteras are heavy feeders and will consume the built-in nutrients in potting mix faster than other tropicals

- unless it has been in the same pot for a few years, you’re more likely to harm rather than help your monstera by repotting it

growth notes:

- these plants are natural climbers and prefer a set-up where they can grow vertically

- large aerial roots may form at any of the nodes along the stem, these are used for climbing/support

- smaller new growth could indicate lack of nutrients

- loss or yellowing of old growth could indicate lack of nutrients

all plants are potted in a plastic nursery pot
